Hotmail（官方名称Windows Live Hotmail），是微软的一项线上 Webmail 服务，是第一个在 Web 接口上实现实时拼写检查的邮件系统。
Hotmail 是互联网免费电子邮件提供商之一，世界上的任何人可以通过网页浏览器对其进行读取，收发电子邮件。它于1995年，由杰克·史密斯和印度企业家沙比尔·巴蒂亚建立，并于1996年7月4日（美国独立日）开始商业运作。
要使用 Windows Live Hotmail 的全部功能，必须使用 Internet Explorer 版本6.0或以上，或者 Firefox 版本1.5或以上。
发展
Hotmail 于1997年末被微软收购，并由原来运行于 FreeBSD 平台逐步过渡至完全运行于 Windows 平台上。之后还跟微软的其它服务合并成为 MSN 和 Windows Live 的组成的一部分。
Hotmail 邮件服务在全球很多国家都开通，它现在是网上最大的邮件提供商，为用户提供免费邮件空间来储存发送及接收的邮件。最初 Hotmail 的邮箱容量只有1MB，到被微软收购以后提升至2MB。微软原来计划在2004年年底之前将 Hotmail 免费用户的信箱容量则增加至250MB，付费用户的信箱容量增至2GB。不过，这个计划到了2005年4月还未完成。但自从有留学生发觉可以透过更改地址而提早享用更大容量的邮箱之后，引起其他人争相效法。这使微软感到困扰。
2007年，所有原 Hotmail 用户将可升级为 Windows Live Hotmail 用户，存储空间提高至2GB。
后来，为了因应 Yahoo! Mail 的无限容量和 Gmail 的7GB（持续增加中）高容量的竞争，微软将 Windows Live Hotmail 提升至5GB。
