Mosaic
Mosaic是第一个可以显示图片的浏览器。它是由美国伊利诺州的伊利诺大学的NCSA组织在1993年所发表。在当时人气爆发的大受欢迎。Mosaic的出现，算是点燃后来因特网热潮的火种之一。
当时的Mosaic开发的中心人物马克·安德生（Marc Andreessen）和Silicon Graphics（电脑绘图用的高性能电脑制造公司，简称为SGI，中译则是视算）公司的创始人吉姆·克拉克（Jim Clark）设立了“Mosaic Communication Corporation”，这家公司之后1994年11月改名为“Netscape Communication Corporation”，此后沿用至今，中译为网景。
Mosaic的最先版本Alpha版（1993年1月）只能在X Window系统上执行，直到同年9月才支援Macintosh和Windows等操作系统。
但是现在NCSA Mosaic已无人在更新，且源代码早已公开，任何有能力的程式设计师都可以拿他来做进一步的开发，Mosaic对因特网的贡献将永载史册。
